Rural Bassetlaw Befriending Scheme

Through our scheme we are be able to help people aged 55 and over who may need additional support to help them live more independently in their own homes. We support older people in rural Bassetlaw who might be experiencing loneliness and isolation through family circumstances or rural location, by offering a volunteer befriending service.

Our volunteers can visit people in their own homes, accompany people shopping, or take people on social outings. They can offer companionship and a listening ear, provide information and support and help to keep people informed about community life. We set up and help to develop group activity for older people and are in touch with friendship groups and activity groups in a number of villages. Groups can provide an opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, revisit a past hobby or learn new skills.
